Colectivo Castanea was formed to preserve, study and bring into public view the photographic archive of Tony Russell. Founded by Tiago Serpa, Tiago Brandão and Rogério Queiroz, the collective brings together complementary expertise in the visual, research and strategic development of cultural projects. Rooted in the conviction that culture should provide context and restore depth to the act of looking, the project affirms an idea of continuity, memory and stewardship - values evoked by the name Castanea. Its first public collaboration takes shape in Abeng - Signal of Resistance: Tony Russell’s Archive.
